For your reference, provisional flight times for our charter flights are listed within the itineraries but these are subject to change. Airlines We only use reputable charter airlines such as XL Airways and Monarch using Boeing 737, 757, 767 or Airbus A300, A319, A320, A321 or A330 aircraft. All flights will be non-smoking and in general, short haul charter flights offer a seat pitch of 28” or more and long haul flights offer a seat pitch of 31” or more. All our dedicated charter flights include meals and refreshments and a complimentary bar service. If you purchase any optional pre and/or post cruise extensions, then your flight to join or return from the extension will be by scheduled carrier rather than charter. For certain extensions, flights may operate to or from London Heathrow rather than London Gatwick. Upgrade options If you are travelling on one of our European cruises but do not wish to travel on our exclusive charter service, then we can offer the opportunity to fly with British Airways, subject to availability (supplements apply). You may also choose, for an increased supplement, to upgrade from economy to British Airways Club Europe, where you can enjoy additional benefits such as extra legroom, increased check-in options such as dedicated check-in desks, increased baggage allowance, access to the executive lounge and improved in-flight dining. Where our exclusive long haul charter flights are operated by Excel Airways, we are pleased to offer the facility to upgrade to the premium ‘Excel One’ cabin from £349 one way. Space is strictly limited so book early to avoid disappointment. For customers travelling with scheduled carriers for long haul cruise extensions, our Travel Consultants will be pleased to quote upgrade supplements from economy service to deluxe economy, business or first class, where applicable. If you are travelling on our exclusive charter services then we can arrange stand-alone domestic services for an additional cost. However, an overnight stay at Gatwick will usually also be required. Regional charter flights We are pleased announce that, for the added convenience to customers in the north, you can now take advantage of direct charter flights from an airport closer to home. On selected European cruises there is the option to fly direct from Manchester airport (stops in Gatwick). See the cruise itinerary pages for further details of which airport you can fly from for each cruise. For the Iberia and the Isles of Scilly cruise, the charter flight to Málaga will depart from London Gatwick and fly via Edinburgh, making this cruise ideal for Scottish customers. Luggage Where possible, we operate a direct luggage transfer from our dedicated charter aircraft to Spirit of Adventure. Once you have checked your luggage in at your UK departure airport you generally will not see it again until you reach your cabin. However, with heightened security procedures, it may not always be possible to operate this system. In such circumstances you will be required to collect your luggage and proceed through immigration and arrivals. A Spirit of Adventure representative will accompany you on the flight and will advise you which system will be in operation. For the return journey, the check-in may be completed on board ship, with your luggage taken under secure transport directly to the plane for your journey home. However, for security reasons, it may be necessary to operate a normal check-in at your overseas airport. In general, your maximum flight luggage allowance is 20kgs per person. One small piece of hand luggage of up to 5kgs may be carried on board. If you upgrade from economy cabins then you will generally receive a more generous luggage allowance.
